I take issue with the generalization about the tolerance or intolerance of Europeans. As a Black American, Europeans are no more or less than anyone else. Just different. I agree that escaping Trump is not a reason to leave the U.S. I've been living happily in Spain for more than a year. I moved because I needed to change my life and preserve my wealth (I couldn't afford healthcare or rising rents). However, the reach of the US is too long and broad to avoid being impacted by its politics worldwide. You might get relief by not having to talk about it daily, but you won't escape the influence of a change in administration. As for the right taking over Europe, there have been advances and losses, and most of these changes are driven by the same forces. Women are tired of being treated as second-class citizens, the 99% are tired of income inequality and the power of oligarchs, and the destabilization of former colonies by their former overlords has created massive immigration of refugees from south to north. The fall of Syria has seriously weakened Putin and Iran, and the killing of the CEO in NY has the elite class a bit nervous. So, who knows, maybe the world is on the verge of significant change that may see the 99% gain at the hands of those in power. It might not be pretty, but maybe change will ultimately pay off. However, there will be no escaping it when it comes, so consider why you really want to move. Move for something, not from something, if you can.
