The cutting off the Kindle from wi-fi is an interesting solution. Unfortunately, I gave up my first generation kindle for the app. Like you, I rarely read books twice but I have a library of non-fiction books I use as references for my articles. Those need to be downloaded for future reference. I also like the ability to change type size and I don’t want to warehouse books. My apartment is small. But I am suggesting digital alternatives that are fair to both readers and writers who are getting ripped off by the new Amazon rules. Bezos has a 300 foot yacht. He doesn’t need to con his consumers into paying ownership prices for renting books. He could use a subscription model like Netflix, not a perfect solution either, but that’s no what’s happening here and it sucks.
